In our lab we study the development of the nervous system using chick and mouse embryos. We are specifically interested in studying the genes interaction networks directing morphogenesis, patterning and neuronal differentiation in the forebrain. Our goal is to elucidate the molecular basis of the above-mentioned phenomena by first identifying the signalling molecules involved followed by identification of the target genes downstream. We are also interested in identifying the interactions between the different signalling pathways involved in these processes.

Apart from having a lot of fun, in my laboratory, we study the processes of bone and cartilage differentiation. BMP signalling is a key player in both these processes. Thus we are working to uncover the molecular network of BMP signalling induced genes that are responsible for cartilage and bone differentiation. For this, we use various genomic, transcriptomic and genomic approaches. On the other hand, joint (or articular) cartilage differentiation is relatively less studied. We are studying fundamental processes of joint cartilage differentiation.
